it's because i'm a man but i'm dressed like a woman

-my memory is getting increaingly bad of late. there's been a few times recently when i've gone to another room for something but then when i get there have absolutely no recollection of why i went there

-watched the first episde of planet earth last night, the latest david attenborough thing on the beeb, which was absolutely stunning. it was filmed in high resolution, whatever that means, though it's a bit like switching from video to dvd. the clarity of detail in some of the stuff was amazing. there were loads of aerial shots which were wicked to see things from a different angle (a bit like those earth from the air books you can get). the slow-mo footage of the great whites breaching was pretty cool. i've been looking into going shark caging with great whites in south africa, something i've always wanted to do for some reason (i would probaby literally crap my pants). anyway, if you missed it, they're repeating it on saturday at 6.30.

-i was reading the label on the side of my water bottle the other day. you know how you get food & drink things and it says things like to keep out of direct sunlight? well this said i should 'keep it sheltered'. i'm not sure if this means to keep it wrapped up nice & warm, or if i should hide it in the event of any sex or violence being on telly or in the news.

-i was quite satisfied recently when loopking through my concordance & discovered that the word 'harumph' is in the bible. i was a bit disappointed when closer examination showed it was actually just some place called harumaph

  1. When we were in the states there were a few cable channels that were broadcast twice at the same time on difference channels: once in normal definition, and once in High Definition. High Definition means it looks perfect on a 5 foot telly and doesn't lose any definition. But to do so means the program needs to be filmed in HD. As soon as the technology came out all the 'american sports that few other countries in the world play' were broadcast using it (and it looks awesome on the Mallons massive telly - massive by our standards - normal by US standards). This will be the first nature program that I've heard of to do it!

  2. I watched that planet earth prog aswell and I was completely transfixed. So amazing and beautiful. That camera fixed onto the helicopter that can zoom in from 1km up in the sky was fab.

  3. i was impressed too with the moving shots of the trees changing over the seasons (instead of just seeing the tree/plant from the same fixed postion like you normally get), especially one they had where the camera was moving under the tree. very clever.
